What Ownership Is Really Like
The basket choice changes the learning curve
Dual-wall baskets create extra resistance and tolerate preground or imperfect grind. Single-wall baskets expose puck preparation more directly and offer greater control. Start pressurized if needed, then move to single-wall when a scale and grinder adjustments feel comfortable.
Fifteen grinder settings are useful but not limitless
The integrated grinder covers coarse to fine and dispenses toward the portafilter. Espresso often needs small corrections as beans age; move one step at a time and clear retained grounds before judging. The automatic amount is not a weight measurement, so verify it with a scale.
Two gauges answer different questions
The temperature gauge reports water heat and the pressure gauge reports puck resistance. Neither guarantees flavor. The manual cites roughly 195–205°F and 9–12 bar as working zones, but taste, flow and beverage yield remain the final evidence.
PID helps stability, not puck errors
Temperature regulation can make repeated shots more consistent. It cannot correct channeling, stale coffee or an overloaded basket. Keep dose, distribution and tamp repeatable before using temperature as a taste adjustment.
The 2.5-liter tank supports a busy household
Capacity reduces refills during several drinks, while rinsing and steaming still consume water. At about 16.5 inches high and 21.5 pounds, the machine needs a permanent, accessible position; lifting a full rear tank beneath cabinets can be awkward.
Milk and hot water are separate tools
The 10mm rotating wand gives manual control over milk, while the independent hot-water outlet supports Americanos, tea and cup warming. Purge and wipe the wand immediately. Hot water from a coffee station may carry aroma, so rinse before delicate tea.
The grinder is detachable for cleaning
Unplug, remove hopper and grinding disc assembly, brush the burrs and chute, and dry every part completely before reassembly. Water around burrs risks corrosion and clumping. The troubleshooting guidance specifically warns about oily or oversized beans when grounds stop flowing.
Daily and periodic care are distinct
Empty the tray daily, rinse brew parts, flush the group and clean the wand. Descale roughly every two to three months or sooner with hard water. Mineral removal does not clean coffee oil from the grinder or milk from the nozzle.
Who will enjoy it
Hanrose fits a buyer who wants an integrated learning platform with both beginner and advanced baskets. It is less suitable for a tiny counter, frequent bean switching or someone who expects automatic milk.
Our Editorial Take
Hanrose provides unusually complete learning hardware for its class: two basket systems, two gauges, PID, hot water and a cleanable grinder. The ownership cost is physical size and multi-zone maintenance. It rewards someone who wants to learn, not someone seeking a one-button appliance.
