What Ownership Is Really Like
The 3.5-bar system changes expectations
This machine produces concentrated coffee through steam pressure, not conventional nine-bar espresso. It can support cappuccino-style drinks, but shot body, crema and control differ from a pump machine.
Water is measured before the cycle
The sealed reservoir has no removable tank and holds roughly one to four cups. Add only the amount intended, secure the cap and never open it while pressure remains. Back-to-back batches require cooling and depressurizing.
The grind should not be ultra-fine
The manual calls for medium-coarse coffee and gentle tamping. Espresso-fine grounds or a hard tamp can choke the low-pressure path. The included scoop and carafe markings make repeatability more important than advanced dialing.
The carafe is part of the brewing system
Coffee flows into the supplied glass carafe rather than directly into a demitasse workflow. Replacement availability matters because the machine is awkward to use safely without a correctly fitting vessel.
Preheat is fast but the cycle is manual
After about 90 seconds in Pause, turn the knob to Brew and watch the carafe. Stop the process manually. There are no programmed shot volumes or automatic pressure release.
Steam uses the same small boiler
Frothing competes for the water and pressure used for brewing. Plan drink order, keep the pitcher small and stop before the boiler runs dry. Wipe and briefly purge the wand immediately.
Pressure safety is an everyday concern
Turn the control off, unplug when appropriate and allow the unit to cool before removing the cap or portafilter. Do not treat it like an open removable-tank machine.
Cleaning is simple but must wait for cooling
Wash carafe, basket, portafilter and tray, wipe the wand and descale the brew and steam paths. Monthly guidance should be adjusted for usage and hardness; rinse thoroughly after any descaler.
Who will enjoy it
CM6810 fits a low-cost buyer who wants several small concentrated servings and foamed milk. It is wrong for café-style espresso precision, rapid back-to-back batches or anyone uncomfortable managing a sealed steam boiler.
Our Editorial Take
The Ihomekee should be judged as a compact 3.5-bar steam machine, not as a miniature version of a pump espresso setup. Its appeal is price and simplicity; its defining compromises are brew style, manual stopping and careful pressure handling.
