What Ownership Is Really Like
The first setup should be treated as commissioning
Wash the removable parts, seat the rear tank vertically and run water through the group and wand before drinking from it. The manual identifies separate single- and double-cup baskets, a portafilter and a spoon/tamper; check that all are present because generic replacements may not fit.
Programmed buttons repeat volume, not extraction quality
The machine can save a preferred cup volume, which is useful once a recipe works. It does not measure coffee mass or diagnose channeling. Use roughly seven grams as the manual’s starting point for a single basket, then adjust grind, dose and beverage yield by taste rather than assuming the button solves the puck.
A separate grinder determines how far espresso can improve
Preground coffee is the low-friction route. Fresh whole beans require an espresso-capable burr grinder and additional counter space. If flow is slow and dark, reduce dose or tamp pressure or grind coarser; if it races, work in the opposite direction.
Milk drinks are a separate manual stage
Purge condensation before putting the wand into cold milk, introduce air near the surface, then submerge slightly to roll the milk. Close steam before removing the pitcher. Wipe and purge immediately—the narrow opening is much easier to keep clear while milk is still wet.
The 45-ounce tank is comfortable for a compact machine
The capacity supports several drinks, but blank warming cycles, rinsing and steam purges consume water that never reaches the cup. Refresh standing water, keep rear clearance to lift the tank and make sure it is fully seated before blaming the pump for a failed prime.
Cleanup has an after-use layer and a mineral layer
Knock out the puck only after pressure has settled, rinse basket and portafilter, flush loose grounds from the outlet, empty the tray and clean the wand after milk. Separately, descale according to local hardness. Exterior wiping cannot remove scale inside the boiler or coffee oils in the basket.
Troubleshooting begins with the coffee bed
The manual connects slow, dark flow with excessive coffee, hard tamping or blockages. Water beneath the machine may simply be an overfull drip tray, while a seated-tank or priming issue can look like pump failure. Work through grounds, basket cleanliness, tank position and scale before assuming an electrical fault.
Who it fits
EM-2213C makes sense for a small household that wants espresso and manual cappuccino without an integrated grinder. It is less suitable for one-touch milk, frequent back-to-back entertaining or a buyer who does not want a separate grinder and daily wet-part cleanup.
Our Editorial Take
Kismile’s strongest case is a compact, conventional workflow with programmable volumes and a useful-size tank. The compromise is that the buttons automate water delivery only; coffee preparation, milk technique and preventive maintenance remain hands-on.
